The Chorale's UK Tours
The Anglican Chorale of Ottawa had its first tour in the summer of 1994, when we went to 
Gloucester Cathedral. Since then, we have travelled to the UK every alternate summer to sing as visiting choir in a cathedral for a full week. It is the visiting choir's duty to sing all services Evensong each day of the week, and a marathon day of Mattins, Choral Eucharist and Evensong on the final Sunday.
Prior to the visiting choir week, we do a little sightseeing, a great deal of rehearsal and several one-off services in cathedrals and parish churches.

Tours Remembered
We have loved every place we have visited, each unique in its own way, each with its memorable features, and with wonderful memories of the music we have sung as we raised our voices in these marvellous places and feeling as though we are so close to be almost singing with the angels.
We loved the cloisters at Gloucester, the amazing facade of Bishops, Saints, Apostles and the Trinity at Wells, the history at Winchester and the massive columns raising almost into heaven at Durham.
We looked down into the lantern tower at Ely, which made singing underneath it even more spiritual.
We sang in tiny parish churches with the bees buzzing lazily past the open windows as they gathered nectar from the roses twining over the ancient gravestones.
Every time we arrived in at a new cathedral and for the first time walked into the massive nave and processed into the Quire we were overwhelmed by the grandeur, the tradition and the beauty. We were helping to continue the unbroken series of daily offices that, in most of these holy and mystical places, has been going on for more than a thousand years.
We managed to overcome the lumps in our throats and frenzied beating of our hearts to sing the praises of God as beautifully as we had the power to do.

The Chorale has undertaken eight UK tours since 1994 during which we have sun
g a week of services at the cathedrals of Gloucester, Ely, Wells, Winchester, Durham, Exeter, Canterbury and most recently at Lincoln Cathedral where we enjoyed an especially memorable stay in 2008.
We have also sung individual services at a number of UK churches including St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Little St. Mary's Cambridge, York Minster, Southwell Minster, Brecon, Portsmouth, and Lichfield Cathedrals.
Our next residence will be at St. Mary's Cathedral Edinburgh in the summer of 2010.
