The Anglican Chorale of Ottawa 'Quis cantat, bis orat'
The Anglican Chorale is an unusual Canadian Church choir in that we have no church building to call our own, and we have actually sung more services in the UK than in Canada. The choir gathers regularly to rehearse and to sing evening service at various parishes in the Ottawa region, some of which would not otherwise be able to celebrate Choral Evensong.
Every other year, we travel overseas, where we serve as the "choir-in-residence" for a week in a UK Cathedral. Currently we are busy planning for the summer of 2010, and our 9th UK trip when we will sing at St. Mary's Cathedral in Edinburgh. The Chorale will take on the responsibilities for the sung daily services during the vacation of the usual Cathedral choir, thereby allowing a centuries-old Choral tradition at St. Mary's to continue uninterrupted.
The Chorale has undertaken eight UK tours since 1994 during which we have sung a week of services at the cathedrals of Gloucester, Ely, Wells, Winchester, Durham, Exeter, Canterbury, and most recently at Lincoln Cathedral where we enjoyed an especially memorable stay in 2008.
In 2006 the Chorale sang also at Chartres Cathedral and in moving Remembrance ceremonies at the Canadian Vimy Memorial in France, and at the Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium.
The Chorale offers a warm welcome to all visitors to this website !
